New Pro Wrestling EAST Tag Team Champions were crowned last night in Cambridge, as Deadly Skye ended the second reign of The Super Raffle Bros.
Skye Smitson and Nightshade had previous experience as a team in The Uprising, but returned as a force in PWE at the last show when they headed to the stage after the Raffle Bros successful defence against Oliver’s Army, making it clear they were next in line for the gold.
That match took place at the PWE World Cup at Storey’s Field in Cambridge on Saturday 18th July, and was the hard-hitting affair you’d expect from all four competitors involved.
Indeed Deadly Skye didn’t even wait until the contest was scheduled to happen, as they hit the ring right at the start of the show demanding their opportunity straight away, and Tim Lee and Kharnage accepted.
However, the underhanded tactics from the challengers soon shone through, even going so far as to use Nightshade’s Women’s Championship belt, which almost got them the victory.
However, with Tim Lee then out of the action it turned in to a two-on-one affair, and Deadly Skye were able to pick up the pinfall victory and leave Cambridge with the Tag Team Championships.
This was even more significant for Nightshade, who was in her first match back from an extended tour of Japan and the victory made her a double champion, something unique in PWE’s history.
They didn’t get the chance to rest on their laurels though, as after Alexander Roth won the World Cup tournament, he brought his 87 tag partner Roy Johnson to ringside and said he’d be cashing in his shot at a title of his choosing for the tag gold against Deadly Skye at the next show on Saturday, 14th November.
