The final PROGRESS Wrestling event of the year took place in London, with the annual mystery Unboxing show which featured two ladies matches, including a Women’s Championship title defence by Rayne Leverkusen.
The event, which took place at the company’s spiritual home of the Electric Ballroom in Camden, was headlined the title match featuring ‘The Maiden Of Metal’ putting her gold on the line against Kanji.
There was 20 minutes of back and forth action where either woman could have come out on top. However, despite a series of submissions from Kanji where Leverkusen looked in trouble, the title holder managed to come out victiorious.
Whilst Kanji showed respect despite her defeat, it would now seem Rayne Leverkusen knows who her next challenger will be, as Alexxis Falcon came to the ring to make it known she’d be challenging for the PROGRESS Wrestling Women’s Championship in January.
Falcon had stamped her mark as a top contender for the title at the beginning of the evening with a victory in a six-way scramble match.
As can happen with the unpredictable nature of Unboxing, Lana Austin thought she was preparing herself for a singles match against the debuting Maddy Morgan. However, this soon changed as Falcon, Rhio and Harley Hudson all made their way to the ring.
Just as the referee was about to start the match Austin got some support, as Hollie Barlow came out to the ring to make the match a six-way. The match was as chaotic as you’d expect, including Morgan hitting a massive moonsault to the outside.
However, it was Alexxis Falcon who got the win after hitting the ‘Off With Her Head’ on Hudson.
It would seem Alexxis Falcon gets her shot at Rayne Leverkusen when PROGRESS Wrestling returns to Camden on Sunday, 25th January for Chapter 189 – In Darkest Night. Tickets for the available are available now.
